Corrections policy
Specs get revised, fees change, and sources are occasionally wrong. When a figure on this site is out of date or mistaken, here is exactly what we do about it.
How we handle a change
We correct in place, and date it
When a figure changes, we update it on the page and move that page's editorial update date to match. The freshness signal always reflects the real state of the content.
We supersede — we don't quietly delete
In our evidence file, a finding that is replaced is kept and marked superseded, with the date and the reason it changed, rather than erased. That way the history of a figure — what it was, and why it moved — is never lost.
We downgrade when a source weakens
If a claim we once treated as verified can no longer be confirmed from a primary source, we re-grade it — down to a caution or unverified mark — instead of leaving a confident number standing on weak ground.
